Once I was facing enemy fleet BB's I was toast. Just played a game where I did just that and I did very well. It's purpose was to destroy CL's/CA's in support of the fleet screening force and to run away from BB's. It's intended purpose under USN doctrine was to suppport CL's & DD's against the enemy CL/DD screens, it was never intended to fight in the line of battle. That is literally what this ship was designed to do. If you're facing CA/CL's you can be bold. It's not a bad ship, but you have to be very conservative in your game play. use your speed to relocate and defend/support your team. Having the concealment you can go dark, and with her speed you can reposition as needed.Ann, use it as a BC.glass cannon. Iowa has good accuracy, and should be played mid to long range. Stacking CE with the Concealment module will allow you to be sneaky. The first 10 points should be used on the skills I highlighted in green above IMO. I may revisit the Artillery Plotting room modules in update 9.1, after the modules get reworked.įor the captain skills, survival builds work really well for the entire USN BB line (exceptions are Massachusetts and Georgia). Steering Gears Mod 1 (Really helps the maneuverability, especially once you get the C hull) The 16"/50 guns are a nice upgrade over North Carolina's 16"/45 guns, even with them both firing the same shells. I really enjoy playing Iowa, was also my goal when I first started.
